Due to the "Financial Education Day" , ASF will be able to intensify its efforts and launch new programs in the field.

The Chamber of Deputies adopted the law establishing April 11 as "Financial Education Day." As the institution that has actively supported all measures to raise awareness of the importance of financial education, the Financial Supervisory Authority (A.S.F.) welcomes the decision of the parliamentarians. By adopting the law, an important step is taken forward in terms of Romanians' access to a series of tools that allow them to make the best decisions regarding the family budget. With a good level of knowledge, information from the fields of insurance, investments, or related to credit becomes easy to understand and apply, and, in the long term, the entire mechanism will prove beneficial to the overall well-being of Romanians.

"Early financial education is a strategic direction of action for A.S.F. and represents the cornerstone for a paradigm shift in terms of where Romania will rank in the future in the rankings of countries with a high level of financial education. Financial Education Day will be a good opportunity to celebrate each year the importance of this field, which has fundamental implications for the economic development of Romanian society," said Nicu Marcu, President of the Financial Supervisory Authority.

For the Financial Supervisory Authority, financial education has always been a priority. Over time, through the Financial Studies Institute, the institution has conducted numerous programs in the field. Since 2015, A.S.F. lecturers have held courses and presentations for almost 4,000 teachers, over 18,000 students, and around 162,300 pupils from all levels of education.

Last week, before the law was voted on, ASF President Nicu Marcu highlighted the effects of the new law and indicated that the institution he leads will have new tools to promote financial education.

"There will be a law that establishes Financial Education Day. This is an extraordinary thing. We will conduct even more courses, and ISF will play an important role. We want to provide financial education for everyone. People need to understand how to manage their money," Nicu Marcu said during the ECSF Conference organized by the Financial Studies Institute (ISF).

As a result of the strategy, in addition to ISF's existing programs, mainly aimed at the academic environment and students, new initiatives will emerge, designed to provide all citizens access to the benefits of financial education.
